Graduated Repayment Plan

Additional Information

Graduated Repayment Plan Information

The Graduated Repayment Plan is one of the federal student loan repayment options that may be available to eligible borrowers who meet applicable program requirements established by the U.S. Department of Education.

This repayment option may apply to certain eligible federal student loans, including:

  • Direct Loans
  • PLUS Loans
  • Subsidized and Unsubsidized Stafford Loans
  • Certain Consolidation Loans

Eligibility, repayment terms, and availability may vary depending on the borrower's loan type, loan balance, repayment history, and current federal guidelines.

Under the Graduated Repayment Plan, monthly payments generally begin at a lower amount and may increase over time according to the repayment schedule established for the borrower's loan. The repayment period may vary depending on the loan type and applicable federal requirements. Certain Consolidation Loans may have longer repayment periods based on applicable rules.

Because payment amounts and repayment periods vary, the total amount paid over the life of the loan may differ compared to other repayment options, including the Standard Repayment Plan.

Borrowers considering programs such as Public Service Loan Forgiveness (PSLF) should review their individual circumstances and applicable eligibility requirements with their loan servicer or official federal student loan resources. PSLF eligibility depends on factors such as qualifying employment, qualifying loans, qualifying payments, and other program requirements.

For questions regarding documentation requirements or general information about repayment options, our team can provide guidance and document processing support to help you better understand the process.
